What are the advantages of the ClariVein Procedure for venous reflux and varicose veins ?
Thursday, December 20, 2012

There are various techniques to treat venous insufficiency (all of these are available at the Vein Treatment Center and www.VeinsVeinsVeins.com):

1. Laser techniques using EVLT (endovenous laser therapy)

2. VNUS Closure using radiofrequency energy

3. Venefit Procedure using radiofrequency energy

4. Mechanochemical techniques using ClariVein technology - The ClariVein Procedure

ClariVein is a special catheter with a rotating tip. It is two to three times thinner than the current devices used in radiofrequency and laser treatments.

The ClariVein catheter treats the abnormal feeding vein that is the underlying cause of visible bulging varicose veins. The procedure with ClariVein is minimally invasive and takes less than 30 minutes.

Here are the steps involved with the ClariVein Procedure:

1. Ultrasound visualizes the vein to be treated.

  • 2. After a local anaesthetic is applied on the skin, the ClariVein catheter is inserted through a tiny entry point and threaded along the

  • length of the vein to be treated.

  •

  • 3. No deep anesthetic (tumescent anesthesia) is necessary along the length of the vein as the procedure is PAIN FREE.

  •

  • 4. The rotating tip of the ClariVein catheter is set in motion. The tip sensitises and damages the inner lining of the vein mechanically with a rotator unit and chemically with sclerothrapy.

  • 5. The leg is wrapped in a compression bandage following the procedure.
  •

  • 6. Resume all activities immediately.

Dr. Karamanoukian uses all of these procedures in the office setting and uses them selectively based on the patient's condition. Go to www.VeinsVeinsVeins.com to schedule an appointment.
