Reasons to avoid vein stripping for venous insufficiency include:
- Hematoma in the groin and along the tract of vein stripping in the thigh, leg and ankle.
- Infection in the groin incision or any other incisions in the thighs, legs and ankle.
- Significant bruising and pain following vein stripping which can last several weeks.
- Nerve injury or transaction injury. This can be quite disabling and debilitating.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
