Comparing outcomes of EVLT versus Venefit Procedure (VNUS CLosure) versus high ligation and stripping
Wednesday, November 28, 2012

A study has looked at the results of randomized controlled studies looking at the efficacy of EVLT for laser ablation of the great saphenous vein, versus VNUS Closure (Venefit Procedure) versus high ligation and stripping of the saphenous veins. The study was published by Nesbitt and collegaues at the Department of Vascular Surgery, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Avenue, Sheriff Hill, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, UK.

Intersting findings from this study:

Recurrence following VNUS Closure (Veneft Procedure) showed no difference when compared with surgery.

Recanalisation within four months was observed more frequently following VNUS Closure compared with high ligation and stripping.

Neovascularisation was observed more frequently following high ligation and stripping versus VNUS CLosure.
