There are many options for facial volume enhancement with hyaluronic acid facial fillers. Juvederm and Restylane are safe and highly effective options for men and women who desire a non-permanent treatment to correct unwanted facial fine lines, wrinkles, and smile lines along the nasolabial folds.  Dr. Hratch Karamanoukian, a prominent board certified surgeon with an expertise in cosmetic rejuvenation, now offers an innovative stimulatory facial filler known as Radiesse.  Radiesse provides longer term action when compared to Juvederm or Restylane and can provide an effective natural enhancement of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

  1. Information about Radiesse? Radiesse is a non-permanent facial filler that is composed of calcium hydroxyapatite, a naturally-occuring ingredient that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of deeper wrinkles and facial folds. Radiesse has been successfully administered in the nasolabial folds and the smile lines to correct static and dynamic facial wrinkles.  Our office uses Radiesse facial filler in our Western New York offices to correct the nasolabial folds, cheek hollowness, and chin weakness.  The filler is used around the mouth and eyes, cheeks, and along the jawline and jowls.  Radiesse typically lasts about 1-2 years with an average of about 1.5 years in most patients.
  2. What is Juvederm and is it different from Radiesse? Radiesse and Juvederm are both facial fillers.  Juvederm, unlike Radiesse, is composed of hyaluronic acid and is used to plump the deeper dermis, improving wrinkles and smile lines.  Our Western New York cosmetic offices offer Juvederm and Restylane injections for those patients with facial volume loss.  It is ideal for lip augmentation and Dr. Hratch Karamanoukian can advise you on the best available fillers for lip augmentation and lip plumping.
  3. What areas respond well to Radiesse facial fillers? In our experience, the best areas for Radiesse treatment include the nasolabial folds, the periorbital and perioral folds, chin areas, and cheeks.  We also use the Radiesse filler for the jawline, marionette lines, and jowls.
  4. Is Radiesse injection painful? Dr. Hratch Karamanoukian is an expert in Radiesse injections.  He uses an FDA approved protocol for Radiesse which incorporates lidocaine, an anesthetic, during the Radiesse injection to minimize discomfort associated with the procedure.  If you are concerned about pain and discomfort during your Radiesse procedure, just ask us and we can minimize the discomfort associated with your cosmetic procedure.
  5. Can Radiesse be used for the corners of the mouth? If you have a slight hollowness or sagging along the corners of your mouth, you are not alone.  Our office uses Radiesse as a stimulatory facial filler for the nasolabial folds, the marionette lines, the jowls, and as a complement to the corners of the mouth.  Dr. Karamanoukian can evaluate your needs and custom tailor the injection to meet your specific needs for facial enhancement in the Buffalo, Williamsville, and Niagara areas.
